Our review

If I had to buy a ukulele right now, this is where I'd be putting my money. The aNueNue Hawaiian Dream Ukulele is hands-down incredible for its price. Quite often, walk in customers are pleasantly surprised when I tell them how much they will be paying for one of these. In fact, I'd argue this series of aNueNue ukulele competes with ukuleles several grand more expensive.

Sounds too good to be true? It's not. aNueNue absolutely nails the simple things. As a result, you get a premium uke at a cost a margin above an entry level price.

Tonally, its a 10/10. Well balanced, melodic, soothing. Everything I want when I hear a ukulele. Sometimes ukuleles can be a little too grating, too saccharine. That's not the case here. The solid top provides all the fullness and richness of sound I could ever need.

Comfort is another gold star. The fretboard is silky smooth, the strings are the softest fluorocarbons on the market. The matte finish on the neck is cool to the touch. The open hand glides easily up and down the fingerboard, trouble free. It's a pleasure to hold and play.

Now let's talk aesthetics. Again, no surprises, it's full marks. The classic shapely body of aNueNue, the black binding, the subtle intricacies of the Mahogany. What can I say? I'd buy one right now if I didn't already own a ukulele shop. Top of the range sound, feel, and looks, at an affordable price.

Wow what a beauty

Wanting an upgrade from my Bondi (Arcadia Concert) uke I travelled to UkuleleMate's Sydney warehouse-shop and auditioned ten or so concert and tenor ukuleles from Kala, Cordoba, Ohana between $400 and $600 that I'd written on my list. None of them quite pleased me, especially after I tried two $1000-plus models. Then the knowledgeable sales assistant handed me the $349 aNueNue, I strummed a G Major chord and thought wow! My father travelled to Hawaii some years ago and bought a hand-made Koa masterpiece, yet this $349 loses little in tone, playability, tuning, high-fret ease.... My strong advice for anyone considering a $250 ukulule is to pay the extra $100 and get this!
